The oxeye daisy, also called the marguerite, is a perennial with upright stems up to 80 cm tall, toothed leaves and large flower heads with white ray florets around a golden-yellow centre. It flowers from May to July in meadows and pastures, on banks and along roadsides. It prefers sunny, moderately dry and not too fertile sites, which makes it typical of traditionally managed, rarely fertilised meadows. Its flowers are eagerly visited by bees, butterflies and beetles.
