About
PlantsMap – Plants of the World – is a map on which every country has its most important plants: at least five, and more in large countries and those richest in nature. National symbols, the species that shape the landscape, and the plants without which it is hard to imagine the local cuisine or culture.

How we choose the plants
Symbols come first – national flowers and trees, and plants that appear on coats of arms and flags. Then the species that do most to shape the landscape, and those that matter for the country’s culture or economy. For each plant we mark on the map the regions where it grows naturally or is cultivated.
The site is also available in Polish, as Rośliny świata – the original edition, previously at flora.ominuvo.com. The English texts were translated from the Polish descriptions written by our editors; plant names follow common English usage, with the scientific (Latin) name always given.
Privacy
The site does not store cookies or any other data in your browser and does not show ads.
The exceptions: if you choose the light or dark theme yourself (the switch in the header), or close or use the bar suggesting the other language version, your browser remembers that choice in its local storage (localStorage). It stays on your device only and is never sent to us; in automatic mode the theme is not stored.
- Statistics. We count visits with Matomo, running on our own server. Matomo works without cookies here, which is why we do not ask for consent.
- What is recorded: the pages visited and time of visit, the address of the page you came from, approximate location (country, region), device type, operating system, browser, its language and screen resolution, as well as phrases typed into the country search. The IP address is shortened by its last two bytes, so it does not identify a specific device.
- Purpose: statistics only – to know which content is read and to develop the site. The data is not passed on or sold to anyone and is not used for advertising or profiling.
- Legal basis: the controller’s legitimate interest, i.e. keeping statistics of the site (art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Fonts. Typefaces (Fraunces, Inter) are loaded from Google Fonts – your browser then connects to Google’s servers, which see your IP address. Maps and photos are served from our own server.
- Contact form. When you write to us, we process your name or nickname, e-mail address and message, as well as the name of the service and the page from which the message was sent. The message is delivered by e-mail to contact@ominuvo.com.
- Purpose and legal basis: replying to your message – based on the consent you give in the form (art. 6(1)(a) GDPR); protecting the form against spam and abuse – based on the controller’s legitimate interest (art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Providing the data is voluntary, but without it we cannot reply.
- Spam protection: we store the sender’s IP address only as a hash (the address cannot be recovered from it) for the purpose of the message limit, and delete it after an hour. The form does not use cookies.
- Recipients and retention: the data is stored by our hosting and e-mail provider, which processes it solely on our behalf; we do not sell it or share it with anyone else. We keep the correspondence for as long as needed to reply, and then for no longer than 12 months, unless longer retention is required by law or for the defence of legal claims.
- Withdrawing consent: at any time, by writing to contact@ominuvo.com. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal. You also have the right to data portability.
- Controller and contact: the data controller is the owner of the Ominuvo service. For matters concerning personal data, write to contact@ominuvo.com or use the contact form. You have the right to information about the data processed, to its rectification, erasure and restriction of processing, and to object, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority – in Poland, the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (uodo.gov.pl).
