5 plants worth knowing
Liechtenstein
Within just 160 km², Liechtenstein combines the flat floor of the Rhine valley, at about 430 m above sea level, with Alpine peaks rising above 2,500 m. Remnants of former peat bogs and wet meadows survive in the valley, the slopes are clothed in beech, fir and spruce forests, and higher up there are mountain pastures with mountain pine and Alpine flowers. Forests cover more than 40% of the country and largely serve as protection against avalanches and landslides.
